The Foldie
Every ad account should have a diverse mix of creative. It’s nonnegotiable at this point. This is one of the lo-fi UGC ads we made for The Foldie last month. It was all in one take, easy to shoot, and, most importantly, Easy to test! We made four variations of this ad and can easily iterate on it based on the data we get back.
We hired some actors for the day to shoot some content, and this was one of those videos. Filmed at the back of our studio on a lovely spring day. Fun fact: The two girls weren’t actually there on the same day, so I had to read in for the other person, and then we cut my voice out in editing ✨movie magic ✨
However, this did give us another variation. Guy approaching random girl angle. Smart.
But why does this work? Well, for a start, the caption at the top hooks people; we are opening a loop that holds the viewer. They want to find out what happened because humans are nosey. But we’ve managed to hide an ad in a conversation, helping remove the sales friction you often get with ads.
The goal of any ad we make is to grab attention and hold it. And the results so far are promising! We have a 47% hook rate and have already made a couple of purchases.
Want ads like this for your brand? We’ve got a couple of Q2 spots left, and if you apply today, we’ll make you a free ad. Claim your free creative here.

Oats Overnight

I love this ad. It’s so funny and such a clever way to capture attention on the feed. Returning to my point on The Foldie ad, People are nosey and love to hear the gossip. So why wouldn’t they stop and watch this?
But then they watch, and before they know it, they’re being told about why Oats Overnight is so good. The perfect ad.
The creative is good enough that people will stop and watch, making it the perfect ad.
It’s even funnier because they have blurred faces and a deeper voice. Makes it much more watchable and does wonders for the hook rate. Plus, because they are filming them in the lab, it makes it feel like it's going to be something gross, and also adds some brand authority at the same time, because every brand has a big testing lab like this.
I also wrote a newsie about this a couple of weeks ago, but employee-generated content (EGC) is only getting bigger. This is another great example of it.
TLDR:
Have fun with your ads, stop being so boring
Get your team involved with the creative.

Three Ships

I recently launched my own CPG brand, and after only a couple of days, I've learned that you need to give people a good reason to click within your statics. Because you can’t educate to the same level as you do in a video, you need to give them a reason to click.
And quizzes like this are a great reason.
It’s a fun, personal way to buy a click = But it also sells someone more products than they might have originally planned too since they’re recommended what to buy based on their answers. It puts them in the driver’s seat.
Using a couple of Shopify plug-ins, you can easily create a quiz like this. Give it a try and see what you can create.
TLDR:
Test out new ways to win the click
Making your offer personal is KEY

That’s all for this week's Nice Ads. Thanks for sticking with me. Hopefully, you found some value.
