I’ve been seeing more of this hook recently and I love it.

“Attention boyfriends”

Why does this work so well? Because it doubles your customer base. Most female products only target women, because well it makes sense. But how many boyfriends buy their other half a gift? Almost all of them I hope.

So targeting the partners of the demographic is a great way to get more eyes and sales! Especially around valentines day 💘

It's all about thinking outside the box when it comes to advertising on social - What can you do to separate yourselves from all the competitors? Little tricks like this inside your creative are a surefire way to do just that.

One of the best things about this hook idea is that you can make it today! Just use existing UGC footage and captions or a new voiceover to include the new angle. Easy peasy. I’m expecting to see a lot of these ads this week 🤣


One of my favorite types of ad creative is the type that doesn’t feel like an ad, this from Chewy is a perfect example. We start off with a question that most dog owners ask themselves. It captures the attention of the target customer - This is the most important factor of any video ad.

After that, we have a nice little stop-motion style video of the product coming into frame and being styled, answering the question that was set up in the hook. We get a resolution. The customer gets value. Then the reward? A cute dog comes in to try out the finished product.

If you have a product that solves a problem, then why not try creative that feels organic with the value that you are giving?

Got a skincare product? “How you can stop acne this month”

Got a teeth whitening product? “How I got whiter teeth for my wedding”

All these ideas feel organic. Less sell. More value.

And talking about organic, let’s break down this advert I saw on TikTok last week for probably the most sold product on TikTok… The sunset lamp.

How do you sell a product that is generic like a lamp? Give people a list of reasons to buy, that aren’t just “It lights up my room”. Think more creatively. If you watch this video in full you’ll see the 4 reasons they give. All of them are creative and fit the target demographic perfectly, because who’s going to be buying this product? Definitely not your grandad. But maybe your 16-year-old sister. With that demographic in mind, craft the reasons around things they care about. Health, wellness, comfort, aesthetics, trends - All these things can be easily turned into a reason to buy the viral product.

Making organic-looking ad creative is all about giving people a reason to watch. People don’t watch ads. People watch videos. So go make some videos.
