The Only Style of UGC You Should Make

3 Ad Creatives you should be testing this week inside.

In Partnership with

Another week - Another set of 3 ads for your viewing pleasure in Nice Ads this week.

Are you ready? Let’s jump in and start learning.

90% of the UGC ads I see are simply a person inside talking about a product. Boring right? Sometimes, they might spice it up and film themselves in the gym. Well, it’s not only me getting bored of seeing that. Your customers are as well. So when I saw this creative, I knew I had to show it to you.

Because this is how to make great UGC - That stops the scroll and holds the viewer without even trying. Because by its very nature, it’s entertaining. A guy climbing and filming himself in front of a beautiful view - What more do you want? Well, for the target demographic, there is not much else.

You might wonder, “But Fraser, how is this an ad?” Well, if you watch the full thing, you’ll notice he goes on to tell you what he keeps in his bag when he’s climbing, and one of the main things he carries is…. Jack Link’s. In fact, in his list of pretty important things he’s carrying, he claims Jack Link’s is the most important. A bold statement.

The video is a pure soft sell. There is no pushing for clicks or giving you discount codes. It's just the target demographic doing something they do while telling you about a product. It’s great. Every brand needs more UGC like this—soft sells that get people in so you can target them later.

The Purest Co

While we’re on the topic of UGC, one place I don’t see it used enough is in static ads. Most brands are just using UGC as a video style, but we’ve seen great results using it inside static ads paired with some nice graphics.

Just like this example - We show the product, a USP, a discount and then the target demographic using the product. We all know by now that creative is your targeting so including your demographic inside your ads where you can is always going to help Meta know who needs to see the creative. This static would probably work without the UGC image, but honestly, it might look a little boring. We’d have no scale of the product, no idea who it’s for, and it might feel a little empty design-wise. But just adding that UGC image that they probably already had on file has made it 10x better.

When you're making statics like this, it’s all about finding a way to stand out and stop the scroll. In videos, we have many more choices of what we can do to grab people within the hook. But with an image - We don’t have many options. So use what you can

Olivia Blaire

We’re going UGC mad this week. But remember in the first example when I said that people are getting sick of seeing the same style of UGC? Well, this applies here as well. Because this is the future of UGC: raw. No captions, no broll—just a creator with great energy telling you about a product while testing it out.

I hate to break it to you, but even if you make your ads look organic, people still know they're ads. People will still watch an advert if it interests them, and that’s what Olivia Blaire is counting on with this creative.

They’ve picked a creator with fantastic energy on camera, and that’s what carries this video. Try to imagine this same concept with someone boring. You’d fall asleep. But this girl is a killer - It feels natural. It feels real.

Because of the creator's delivery, not much editing is needed to keep the viewer engaged - We have one small caption at the start of the video to let people know what the video is about, and that’s it. The rest is just simple cuts to help keep the speed up.

Your creator choice is so important when it comes to UGC in 2024. So take your time to pick the right one and when you do, hold onto them!
