The Easiest Method for Winning Hooks

Happy Monday! First up, let’s address the fact it’s almost November - What the heck. Secondly, this week in Nice Ads, we’re going to be talking about:

  • How to come up with winning hooks in seconds

  • A dummies guide to shooting product images

  • The most creative ad I’ve seen this week

So, if that sounds like something you fancy reading about - Let’s dive in

Wave AI

One of the easiest ways to create great hooks is to write your hook line first and then think up a shot that visualizes it. That’s what we did for this UGC ad for Wave.

The idea was based on the phrase, ‘Is your mild like a sieve? ' Instead of saying it, we showed it in the hook. Easy! Pair that with a coloured liquid, and you’ve got yourself a killer hook that achieved a thumb stop of almost 50%.

Making ads is all about thinking on two levels. How can you attract attention, and how can you use that attention to educate and sell your product? So, if you can tick both boxes, you're off to the races.

We create ads like this daily for our clients and have so much fun doing it. If you spend over $70K on ads each month, I’d love to chat. You can apply to work with us here.

TLDR;

  • Don’t overcomplicate your hooks - The simple visuals are the most compelling.

  • Writing your hook line first can make the visuals easier to come up with

You've got to love super simple static ads that are still eye-catching and informative. I wanted to share this one with you because it proves that you don’t need a design degree to create converting static ads. You just need Canva, some product images, and great copywriting. Bonus points if you use Creative OS for the design part.

I know a lot of people struggle with the product image part. It’s often expensive to get high-quality images and well-justified because it takes a lot of work. (Trust me, I take enough of them.) But since the product image is such a core part of a good static ad, it’s worth investing in. But I know you don’t always have a budget if you're just starting out. So here’s your three bullet points guide to taking great product images with your phone.

  • Good light, shoot by a window or invest in some good studio lights. NOT a ring light.

  • Get a few backdrops from Club Backdrop to spice things up

  • Edit your images using something like Lightroom - Never use images right from the camera.

I’ve also been using a new AI tool to make product images - Watch out for a video on that soon!

TLDR;

  • Take the time to shoot killer product images

  • Making statics can be super easy when using tools like Creative OS

I don’t think one person is reading this who wouldn’t admit that if they saw this on their feed, they’d stop and watch. It’s genius. I don’t think I need to explain to you why this would work since it’s kinda obvious. It’s a talking egg in an ovary.

But this is a perfect example of how you can stand out by making your creative work totally different from everyone else's. Almost every ad you see on social media is a UGC talking head video, and it gets boring. Even for me, and I make them. So when you see something totally different its going to grab eyes and often hold them as well.

So this is your sign to try something new this week—go think up your wildest idea and make it happen. It’ll be worth it. Even if it flops, it’s still a massive learning experience.

TLDR;

  • Don’t be scared to get creative with your ideas

  • Thanks to editing, anyone can be an egg in an ovary.

That’s all for this weeks Nice Ads! Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time!
